Back to September's Prayer

Lord,
Take back ownership
Of this
Broken City.
Shame on me
For I have built
Towers of Pride
And orned them
With
Pearled necklaces
Of control.

Woe is me
For breaking the promise
I had given thee;
To let thy Father
Be forever my King.
Have pity on me
And break down again,
I pray,
The foundations of sin
I have laid.

Restore in me
The gift of humility;
Teach me to follow
Whomever You set above me;
Teach me to honor Your authority.
Oh! You mighty Author
Of all that I am.

Restore the pastureland
And be again my shepherd,
My master.
Be my refuge, my strength.
Let me dwell again
At your streams of life
Let I exalt you with my being.
Let my soul be consumed
With only you.

Be again, the king of this land,
Hear
A servant's plea.

My plans in God's Eyes

The heart of man plans his way,
but the LORD establishes his steps.

Palm 37:23-24

The steps of the Godly
are directed
by the LORD.
He delights
in every
detail
of
their lives.

Though they stumble,
they will not
fall,
for the LORD
holds them
by
the hand.

The Child’s Park

There is a little girl in the park.
She calls herself Rosita.
No more than five,
She stands at the entrance
With eyes that shine,
And a smile full
Of the possible adventures
Lying ahead.
This playground,
She has named her castle.
On her quest for adventure,
She follows the sound of laughter.
Running to the Well-of-Possibilities,
She finds other friends already there,
Enjoying the adventures
The small girl
Was soon to discover.
They went from game to game.
That time she was chasing,
The other, she was being chased.
Once the princess,
And the other a witch,
Then a class pupil.
And later, the sister
To a family of adorable puppies.
Everything was possible in this park,
And the reason was simple:
In the confines of the South American
Slums, she called a dump a park,
And turned this park into
Her glorious castle.
Like in any fairy tale,
Dragons had to be slain,
And treasures were waiting
To be discovered.
All in all,
This was her world,
And this park remained,
Rosita’s Kingdom of Dreams.
